Wedding Ideas + Gifts

Wedding Ideas + Gifts

It’s that time of year again when the Wedding invites start piling up behind the door in all sorts of different cutesy, cheesy, and often outrageous designs to inform you that such and such-a-body are tying the knot and that they want you to be there to witness their oh-so-special day. Which means hunting down that perfect wedding outfit along with the perfect gifts — and with websites such as Etsy and Pinterest around nowadays, weird and wonderful gifts are pretty darn cheap (and easy) to find.

As a little girl, I wanted to be Pocahontas, not Cinderella… I loved football and climbing trees and getting muddy and boys made me squirm and I would literally sooner have eaten a worm than kissed a boy, yuck! But even when that special guy did walk (or rather stumble) in to my life, wedding bells were certainly NOT ringing in my ears… However, I put that down to just not having met the right guy, that all changed a few months ago when I finally met someone I could see a future with like that, and so in looking through page after page on Etsy I became absolutely OBSESSED with all things Weddings, much to my boyfriends dismay! Within 5 minutes I knew exactly where I wanted to get married, how many people would attend, the music, yes, all of it, every single song!!! The Wedding Favours, the invitations, the typography on the invitations… ahhhh, after scaring my boyfriend I decided it was time to STOP planning it all, and START a post about it instead, and who knows, maybe it will give you guys some inspiration and you can go and scare your boyfriend in to proposing, too! So here’s a list of weird and wonderful things that I found that I absolutely LOVED!

Wedding Invitations

These personal Instagram inspired Wedding Invites are just fab! Especially if like many you ARE an instagram-addict or love getting crafty — however, if you are a bit fiddly with your hands, these may be a bit more difficult to create! Find the step by step guides to making them right here!

These ah-mazing-ing Willy Wonka inspired Wedding invitations just blow my mind… and I’m pretty sure they’re gonna blow yours, too! Although it’s been difficult trying to find these exact invitations on the WWW there are alternatives in different styles and formats available, from places such as Etsy! The perfect invite for the choc lovers out there!

I absolutely love this style of Wedding Invite, it’s so simple yet so effective and actually very easy to make yourself if you don’t have much budget left for your Invites – for anyone who doesn’t understand the concept of this – opening the card tightens the string thus tying a knot… If you’re not the crafty type, you can buy them, here.

Wedding Favours

Krispy Kreme Wedding Favours are a great addition to sweetening up your special day and is hands down one of the greatest Wedding Favours out there… you really can’t go wrong with this… you can even have them personalised!!! They’re available in Bridge and Groom decoration, love hearts, x’s and o’s and other awesome designs that you just NEED at your wedding!

This is such a neat and cheap idea for a Wedding Favour that will provide so much fun for adults and children alike, and will make for some amazing photographs afterward! Amazing. This will definitely be a feature at my wedding!

These Wedding Drink Tokens are a great wedding favour for everyone, kids and adults alike, depending upon how many guests you have in attendance it shouldn’t cost too much to put some money behind the bar (enough to pay for everyone’s first drink) and provide them with a token at their table ready for the evening partay to begin and for them to retrieve their free drink! A very simple and awesome addition to any wedding… a favour everyone is gonna love!

Wedding Photo’s

This life-size hanging Polaroid frame for guests to take pictures in is the perfect and cheap addition to any wedding! Can be found on places such as Etsy, otherwise easy to make yourself!

“Take a polaroid photo of yourself, tape it in to the guest book… and sign!” this is a wonderful idea, so creative and an amazing way to remember your wedding day and all that attended! This is a DIY that is so easy, all’s you need is a polaroid camera, lots of film, a scrapbook and some tape… oh and a pen! Simple!

Hiring photo booths for weddings has never been easier, it’s fun, cheap, and keeps everyone entertained. If you’ve never seen these before, I’ll go over the concept of them for you… It’s like any typical photo booth, or is sometimes even just a curtain, you’re provided with props that you can use as you wish and you are then given 4 unique photo’s of you in all your poses (and glory!) and the Bride and Groom get to keep copies, too… for their personal amusement, and their wedding album, of course! Awesome.

Guestbook Alternatives

This guestbook alternative is great, it’s a series of small circular pieces of paper, signed by the guests and then placed on the canvas in order to make a montage style piece of man and wife being lifted away by balloons! I adore this piece.

I do love this piece, it’s made up of his ‘n hers fingerprints enlarged to create a love heart, the guests sign the surrounding areas – it’s all good and well until you get the guest with the scruffy handwriting who ruins the entire piece (that would probably be my brother or nephew!)

I LOVE this piece, it’s a love tree made up of your guests’ fingerprints, just press their finger in ink/paint and place their finger on one of the branches and they will forever be a part of your special day… in an oh so special way! Can be found again on sites such as etsy, amazon, etc…

This is a great idea and an easy way to remember that special day every time you grab a cuppa or a soda. Guests are provided with coasters for their drinks whereby they must answer the question about the day or a piece of advice for the happy couple and then pop it in to a box for the couple to keep forever!

I absolutely love this piece, it’s cute… the guests are asked to write a postcard with advice/memories of the wedding on to a postcard to then be placed in to a time capsule to be opened on your 1st anniversary. Amazing idea & you can create it yourself.

Ivory Paper Coasters containing the text “my advice for the bride and groom” to be filled in by wedding guests and placed in an ivory box for the newly weds to go over, and to reminisce over in years to come. Lovely. It’s a total shame we can’t use ALL of these pieces for our wedding, dammit!

Something For The Kids

This Wedding Favour is for the little ones.. I don’t know about you guys but there are a LOT of kids in my family, I have 5 nephews and 2 nieces and trying to keep them occupied at big events is HARD… so preparing a box like this with colouring books, crayons, a disposable camera, bubbles, etc, is just perfect! And so very cheap, especially if there will only be a few little ones there! Trust me, the parents will appreciate it even more than the kids!

Kids love sweet stuff, so what could be better than giving them their very own personalised krispy kreme donuts? This photo isn’t the greatest example but they can be customised in to Bridge and Groom style patterns, what’s more, you can order a small bar for the kids to create their own donuts, ah-maz-ing right?! Right.

This is one of those wedding favours that I really love for the kids, give them a disposable camera and a list of things to photograph, and either let them keep the camera or get the photos developed and add them to a scrapbook under a heading such as “aidan’s view of our wedding” and do so for all of the kids, it’s super special if your own kids do it, too!
